The Bidirectional Connection Between the Museum and the City.

The Towada Art Center is one of the art projects of Arts Towada in Towada City. The building was designed by international architect Tadao Ando, featuring an open space that invites the public to experience the charm of art. Director Umetaro Washida, who assumed the position in April 2020, previously participated in the preparatory phase of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. In this presentation, he will share his experience in preparing the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum and discuss new approaches for integrating the Towada Art Center into the community and connecting it with the city.
