The Taichung Art Museum’s visible storage is located on the B2 level of the museum. Through three viewing windows, visitors of all ages can catch a glimpse of the space where artworks are carefully preserved. In the Illuminating the Storeroom exhibition, visitors can further discover how each piece is thoughtfully cared for by professional conservators. Through this dedicated stewardship, the collection can be preserved over time—continuing to accompany us and carry forward its valuable stories.

“Giving Your Collection a Safe Home: Collection Care and Archival Box Workshop” invites you to step into the role of an “art guardian.” Centered on the theme of preventive conservation, this workshop series introduces five major categories of collection materials, including scrolls; sculpture and ceramics; prints and photography; framed works; and textiles. You will learn how different materials require different approaches to care and protection.

Through hands-on activities, you will experience the fundamental processes of collection care and gain practical knowledge of how to protect a variety of objects. At the end of the session, you will also create a custom archival box for a personal item—giving your cherished belongings a safe and welcoming home.
