Visitor Guidelines

General Regulations

  1. No food or drinks inside the museum. Water is allowed only in designated areas.
  2. Smoking is strictly prohibited.
  3. Hazardous items are not permitted.
  4. Pets and animals are not allowed, except for guide dogs.
  5. Please do not touch artworks. Follow staff instructions for interactive exhibits.
  6. Sketching is permitted using pencils only, with sketchbooks smaller than A3. Please do not disturb others. Group activities require prior approval.
  7. Loud guided tours are not permitted inside galleries.
  8. No selling, advertising, political, commercial, or religious activities.
  9. Sports activities (e.g. skating, skateboarding, ball games, dancing) are not allowed.
  10. Camping, open fires, cooking, fireworks, or firecrackers are prohibited.
  11. Do not damage public facilities or enter water features.

Luggage & Mobility

  1. Backpacks of any size and items larger than 40 × 30 × 20 cm must be stored in lockers (1F, B1, B2).
  2. Foldable luggage carts are not permitted inside the museum.
  3. Roller shoes, skateboards, bicycles, and large electric wheelchairs are not allowed indoors.
  4. Strollers (under 15 kg) and wheelchairs are available for loan.

Photography and Filming

  1. Non-commercial photography and videography are permitted for personal use, social media sharing, academic purposes, and creative practice.
  2. Flash, tripods, selfie sticks, stabilizers, artificial lighting, and other professional filming equipment are not allowed.
  3. Photography activities that may disrupt exhibitions or affect other visitors—including wedding shoots, portrait sessions, cosplay photography, or large group shoots—are not permitted. Group photography is limited to five (5) people.
  4. Please respect copyright notices. If photography or filming is restricted, do not record or reproduce exhibited media works.
  5. Avoid photographing other visitors. Prior consent is required if individuals are identifiable.
  6. Drone use is restricted in accordance with Civil Aeronautics Administration regulations. Drones may operate only below 200 feet (approx. 60 meters) and must remain at least 30 meters from buildings.
  7. The museum reserves the right to stop any filming that may affect safety or visitor experience.

Outdoor Area Visitor Guidelines

Scope

Outdoor areas include all outdoor spaces and the shaded plaza of the Taichung Art Museum.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are not permitted:

  1. Smoking; excessive drinking; possession of dangerous or prohibited items.
  2. Indecent, disruptive, or disorderly behavior.
  3. Riding vehicles (except strollers and wheelchairs), skating, skateboarding, ball games, or drone use.
  4. Littering, spitting, urination, or any form of environmental pollution.
  5. Climbing on, graffitiing, or damaging artworks, plants, or facilities.
  6. Open flames, cooking, fireworks, kite flying, or placing personal items.
  7. Selling goods, setting up stalls, distributing advertisements, or solicitation.
  8. Improper use of facilities or obstruction of public passage.
  9. Assemblies, performances, commercial filming, surveys, or other activities without prior approval.
  10. Any activities prohibited under relevant municipal regulations.

Enforcement

  1. Non-compliance may result in intervention by relevant authorities.
  2. Damage to artworks, plants, or facilities may lead to legal liability and compensation.
  3. Unauthorized use of water or electricity is prohibited.
  4. The museum reserves the right to close outdoor areas in emergencies or force majeure events.

Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center

Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center (TICEC) is the only "Diamond-Rated Green Building" certified convention center in Taiwan. Taichung Aerodrome Gun Tower

Built in 1940 by the Japanese military to meet the armament needs of the former Japanese Taichung Airfield (now Shuinan Airport), the firepower network was designed to control the open plains east of the airfield. This structure is known as a machine gun bunker, often referred to as the “machine gun fort.” It features a conical concrete form with a base diameter of approximately 10 meters and a height ranging from 6 to 9 meters, along with several rectangular windows on the walls.
