Family Guided Tour－The Covenant of Dadu

Have you ever wondered how Taichung became the city we know today?

The Covenant of Dadu: A Diplomacy of Things between Mountains and Seas invites children and families to explore the stories of Central Taiwan through land, rivers, railways, markets, and art.

The Dadu Plateau, a high, flat landscape near Taichung, has played an important role in the history of Central Taiwan. Long ago, the plateau, river mouths, harbors, and Indigenous communities shaped life in this region. Later, railways, train stations, streets, markets, and ports helped people, goods, and ideas move between the mountains and the sea, slowly shaping Taichung’s culture and history.

Inspired by the curator’s idea, this exhibition imagines Central Taiwan as a map being drawn over time: the land is like paper, cities and railways are like drawing tools, and art helps us remember and imagine its stories.

You will see everyday things such as bananas, jute, bamboo baskets, sugar, rivers, streets, and train stations. These “things” may seem ordinary, but each carries an important story about Taichung.

How to Join

On-site registration opens 20 mins before the start of each tour.

 

Notes

1. Please arrive and gather at the service desk in the Green Museumbrary lobby 20 minutes before the tour begins.
2. Priority registration is recommended for families with children of elementary school age or younger. If vacancies remain before the tour begins, registration may be opened to the general public.
3. To ensure tour quality, participants are required to use the audio guide devices provided by the Museum. For family groups, one parent or guardian should serve as the representative and present a valid ID (National ID card, driver’s license, National Health Insurance card, or passport) to borrow the device.
4. Please check the device upon borrowing. If it is not functioning properly, it can be replaced on-site. In case of damage or loss, compensation will be charged at cost (NTD 2,000 per device).
5. Audio and video recording during the tour is not permitted.
6. Taichung Art Museum reserves the right to adjust or cancel tours due to staffing or unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be announced on-site.

 

Additional Information

1. In the event of a government-declared closure (e.g., due to natural disasters) or other emergencies, the Museum will suspend operations and all tours for the day will be cancelled without prior notice.
2. Matters not covered herein shall be handled in accordance with the Taichung Art Museum Visitor Guidelines.
