The collection scope

Our museum’s collection policy focuses on important works in Taiwan’s art history and constructs the development context of central art.At the same time, we will focus on the museum’s exhibition opportunities, expand the international exchange platform, and search for important cross-regional and international works.

Collection Management

The museum has implemented comprehensive guidelines and systems for collection management, establishing standardized storage facilities and environmental controls to monitor temperature, humidity, lighting, visitor flow, and inventory management. New accessions are cataloged, photographed, cleaned, packaged, and stored on shelves. The museum consistently oversees preservation and exhibition conditions to ensure the proper care and management of the collection.

To ensure and enhance the longevity of our collection for public accessibility, the museum conducts annual condition assessments focusing on the materials, framing, and protective measures. Our conservation team collaborates with specialists and scholars from various disciplines to determine suitable restoration techniques, engaging experienced conservators and academic institutions for treatment.

The museum’s research projects center on regional art and contemporary issues, exploring the complex connections between the artistic development of central Taiwan and regional culture through fieldwork, oral histories, audiovisual documentation, and academic research. This approach establishes a research framework for the art history of central Taiwan, informed by a distinctive perspective, emphasizes the diversity of artistic expressions and characteristics across different eras, and shapes the local narratives and academic value of Taiwan’s regional art history.
