From the earliest stages of planning, Taichung Art Museum has embraced cultural accessibility and inclusivity as guiding principles. The museum is committed to creating an accessible and welcoming environment for all visitors—across facilities, guided tours, and exhibition services—by responding to a wide range of needs. In addition to offering diverse assistive resources, the museum has introduced a Quiet Room, providing a place for visitors to pause, unwind, and regulate their sensory experience away from audiovisual stimulation.

Moving forward, the museum will continue to strengthen its accessibility services and cultivate an inclusive public space where art becomes a shared, everyday experience—open and meaningful to everyone.

Wheelchairs are available for use free of charge by presenting valid identification at the 1F Information Desk of the Green Museumbrary.

This room is designed as a welcoming rest space, offering visitors a calm environment to step away from sensory stimulation, regulate emotions, and adjust the pace of their museum visit.

Guideline

• Opening Hours: Closed on Mondays. Tuesday-Friday and Sunday, 9:00–16:50; Saturday, 9:00–19:50.
• This space is open to all. Children under 12 must be accompanied by parents or guardians at all times.
• Please slide the top indicator to “Occupied” when entering, and back to “Vacant” when leaving.
• Please feel free to use the furniture and sensory tools as needed, and adjust the lighting to your preference for rest, meditation, or breathing exercises.
• Eating, drinking, smoking, sleeping or using the space as a private social area are not allowed.
• Please set mobile devices to silent mode and avoid calls, photography, and recording.
• Please treat all furniture and items within the room with care and and maintain a clean environment for other users.
• This space is not suitable for any form of psychological or medical use. When emergencies occur, please follow the instructions of museum staff.
• This space is managed by the Taichung Art Museum. Routine inspections are conducted every hour.

This area features geometric furniture—including linear, circular, triangular, and rectangular forms—arranged in various combinations to create an open, flexible, comfortable, and inclusive area for rest, social interaction, and participation in activities.

Guideline

• Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Smoking and eating are not permitted in this space. Animals, plants, and pets are not allowed, except for guide dogs.
• For your safety, please refrain from running or damaging the facilities. After use, please return tables and chairs to their original positions.
• This is a shared space. Please help maintain a clean, comfortable environment. Avoid extended use and keep noise levels low.
